Neekole speaks!

Hey girls… this is your friendly physio-pill feeder-massager-torturer… wanted to post something yesterday but the mansion lights had to go poof and so here I am writing this in Bom-Bom Arena… free internet!!!

5 games gone, 1 more to go… what I really want to say is to forget the past 2 games and just recall how it was against Australia. There was just so much motivation against the Aussies and I think that was the best game so far. Everyone was encouraging one another and most importantly everyone was playing for one another. Forget the previous 2 games and think about how it was during the Aussie game, girls… there’s still so much to fight for. Our pride, the 3rd place and so much more!

Heads up girls. I know you all are capable of doing so much more. We are playing as a team and that’s how it’s supposed to be. No one can do everything alone. Trust in the tactics, trust your line-mates, trust everyone in the team because there’s definitely not one person who wishes to jeopardize everything.

Remember that we all human. Emotions are part of being human and being alive. Whatever happens on court stays on court. We can be heated during the game and we may lose our heads once in a while… but who doesn’t feel for the game when you’re out there?

One more game, one more chance. Aching bodies will heal, bruises will also heal. A defeat, however, stays with you always. Just do your best on court and walk out with your heads held high. As long as you are answerable to yourself, you’re a winner in your own right already =]

You have been doing well girls! Believe in yourself and let’s do it for everyone back home!

Signing off,
Neekole-whose-hands-are-going-to-smell-of-deep-heat-for-the-next-100-years
(but it’s worth it!)

Singapore vs Slovakia

we lost 9-3 =(

i guess we all know we didn't really play well but i feel we tried as much as we could already. perhaps we didn't go hard and tight enough on defence. maybe the media didn't know what to comment also that we only had a sentence in the article. hurhurhur.

this game is different from the other 3 which we've played so far. Slovakia was fast, aggressive and skillful. they played smart actually.

the sad part is that they lost to all the teams in our group cept for us, while we're top of our group. weird huh!

oh well...

anyway, smelly sprained her ankle and jill's groin is strained.. hope they'll be alright soon! (tmrw!!!)

next game against Hungary at 2pm!

Singapore vs Australia (2-1) =D

3 cheers to Singapore!!!

**see lah, don't want to share bus right? haha, then again, the result wouldn't make a difference. ;)

we were awesome! sara's tactics were brilliant and we followed as instructed. line changes were fast, each line played a short and sweet shift most of the time so it wasn't as tiring. =D

ducky scored the 1st goal for us from the right side, bet the keeper must have thought she wanted to pass but no! =)) jill scored the 2nd goal, a penalty shoot-out. she was awarded the MVP yet again!

oh yes, widya offered 10 kroners to those who scored. and she up-ed it later on. haha!

boo-boo for me cuz i caused the 1 goal during box play, didn't step up to the player enough. =( oh well. i'm thankful to our scorers!

last period (last 7 minutes, specifically) was pretty hard to play cuz the aussies were fighting hard to equalize. i'm so happy that we came up stronger, physically and mentally to overcome them =D we were really lucky that they missed i think 3 open shots.. it was panic moment(ssss) especially the view from the bench.

widya did a magnificent job at goal! beautiful saves, especially that 1v1 during the last period, her hand came out right in time to stop the aussies from equalizing! *phew~~

stella and priscilla had to leave before the game started because of family emergency. so yes, they're on their way back to singapore already. hope all will be well for both of them and their family. =)

smelly took an elbow from one of the opponents, resulted in a muscle inflammation below her ribs.
ducky had to go for doping test. haha, perhaps because she's running too fast for her size, perhaps because she scored! so funny, cuz we saw her before leaving the arena, she had to down 4 bottles of water but she just couldn't pee! lol. she needed 15ml more. haha. shall wait for her to fill us in.

our bus driver was nice enough to pull over at the supermarket before bringing us back to malarscamping. grocery-shopping!!!  =D

07 December 2009

Hey everyone!

Many are gathered in Ruyi/Karen's room... it's pretty hot and I'm not sure why I'm still in my super thick fatpipe jersey. Prob coz I'm still enjoying the internet I can never get from my room.

SO anyway, we played the Aussies today. It was really disheartening at first to be playing without our two beloved forwards, Pris and Stella, due to unforseen circumstances. Our well wishes go out to them and their dearest grandmother. We played hard for you guys!

It was also quite sad to see the way the Aussies behaved today; arrogant. Prematch, while we were lining up to run in, they kept chanting, " We are Aussies, mighty mighty Aussies, if you can't hear us, we'll shout louder!" And they went on and on, getting louder and louder. Irritating. If that wasn't bad enough that they were shouting in our ears, half of them didn't even bother to shake our hands after the national anthem, walking away and starting their passes, even when they saw us lining up to shake their hands and wish them good luck. Maybe it was good that we didn't dirty our hands after all.

To add on to my apparent resentment (maybe only me), the previous day the Aussies refused to share a bus with us on the way back to our cabins, causing us to pay 42Kr EACH, just for a 15min bus ride. Of course I was a bitttttttttt bitter, and told myself that we had to beat them. I decided to give a motivating factor to my dear team mates: 10kr to anyone who scored.

MATCH TIME! The Singapore team played really really well *hearts*. 0-0 in the first period. I got a bit nervous and decided to up the bet: 20Kr to anyone who scored. And wonderfully, our dear newcomer Ducky scored a fantastic shot. But the Aussies came back during their power play, leaving a final score of 1-1 at the end of the second period.

In the last period, a desperate attempt to motivate Singaporeans (haha), I upped the bet to 30kr. We somehow managed to secure a penalty, and Jill scored a great goal. 2-1. 5 mins left on the clock in the third period seemed like 5 freaking hours to me. There was so much action, and then I looked at the clock only to realise only 13 seconds had passed.  The team defence was perfect today, and I almost made an error in committing to a forward and in a desperate attempt to save the ball I dived and thank god for giving me long fingers and big hands. After which there was a scramble in front of the goal and I only wanted to protect my head. haha. But the last few minutes truly seemed like hours and I was SO VERY proud of the team for holding on and maintaining the score line. WooHOOO!!!

And I am now with a deficit of 50Kr.

Tougher games lie ahead. I hope that we can maintain the way we played; cohesively and with great determination. When we believe, we can certainly achieve. Special thanks to my dearest goalie partner for fully believing in me and always supporting me, even tho it may be difficult at times  *hugs*.

Go Team Singapore!!!

A day of nothings..

continental breakfast, thanks to karen!

while waiting for the bus at the road outside our camp!

spot the camwhores!!!

OTOT today.. headed to the city (known as Centrum) by public bus. had 3 hours to explore, first time i stepped into Inter Sport and Stadium.. it's like their Royal Sporting House and Sportlink but much much more stuff, and omg, floorball sticks are so super common here.

there's seriously so little things to shop for. ughh. haha, hui and i went on our own for quite a while, didn't really get much stuff. or rather couldn't! =(

i <333 the hotdogs! damn nice!
superlicioushothothothotdog in cold weather.
ooo~mg. =D

basket. change money also need SGD$7 for the service. wth!

anyway, we all walked from the city to the stadium, about 20-30 minutes walk..
in the snow and rain..
on grass..
through a tunnel..
before we reached Bombardier Arena.

like at last!

had to do a survey about this year's WFC..
and it kinda made me think..

this WFC ain't the same as Denmark, in terms of a lot of things.
i find it quite a disappointment, worse still when it's Sweden playing host. booo.
W-H-Y-?
1) venue. it's super-duper double standard for A and B div. seats for spectators are atrocious. at the B div arena, there were so many seats left for IFF and media but none are there! =.='
2) accessibility. it's so far from the city!
3) staff. omg.
"can i have one of those?.. (refering to the WFC booklet)
"uh.. no."
basket.
*duck don't laugh.
4) souvenirs. super little (maybe for now?). event shirt is atrociously cheap-looking and ugly. smallest size is like our size L?
5) players' tag. it's so flimsy! not even laminated. some players' tag got lost, lagi worse.
.....
.....
.....

i'm full of complains!
and i hope i'm not the only one. lol.

australia didn't wanna share a bus with us so we had to take a chartered bus from the arena (after watching some games) back to camp. so.. SGD$8 for a 10 minutes bus ride. =.='''

but all of the above don't matter. =)
*cuz we'll beat the aussies on court!

----------------------------------------
games come first.
tmrw's our second game against Australia!
Singaore, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!!

whatever happens, i know i have my team with me.
that's what keeps me going.

and for that, i know i'll have the strength to step it all UP!
----------------------------------------

time to go to bed!

WFC 2009 Opening, Sweden vs Norway

we attended the opening and watched the game between Sweden and Norway. omg. we were sitting right behind team sweden's substitution zone. wah wah wah. =D

sadly, my idol Ina Rhoos wasn't played today. boooo. was hoping to catch her in action after 2 years?!

the goals by sweden were all so beautiful. the way they play really is inspiring. it makes me believe that i can play that standard, it makes me wanna play at that standard.
simply amazing to watch...
the chemistry they have amongst each other, the coach didn't have to say a thing at all except count-able times of 'change!', the way they played like 'one for all, all for one', the way they were so lethal with the ball..

it's a never-ending list. haha.

the referees for the game was our very own Rello and Dennis!
*haha, dennis is on time, wearing the right socks, brought his whistle as well. =PPP
anyway, i'm so proud of them! having able to ref at that level, it's really really something to be proud of. keep it up referees! ;)
anyway, yixin is with us already! but her luggage is lost in transit. faints. hopefully it'd arrive tmrw.. =S

it's rest day for us tmrw before 3 consecutive game days! we'll be watching games tmrw at the arena, hope it'd get us all inspired and rar-rar for the rest of our games! =)))

Roomies

L-R: Stella, Jill, Rigel, Hui Hui, Jaime

L-R: Karen, Smelly, Ruyi, Serena, Wylyn

Role Play

As like every cabin, I'm sure everyone in the room plays a role.

In the 7-man cabin, we have a variety of them and here are our "stars"..

CEO: Debbie
The nice "boss" who negotiates and creates friendly ties with those from the other cabins to get us some good food and ingredients. YAAY! :)

Director: Pris
The role says it all. Whatever she says is final. Zzzz... But she still does a couple of the chores around the place of course :p

Maid #1: Duck
We're lucky to have a neat person in the cabin. Duck cleans, vacuums, mops, cooks.. the (duck) feathers come in hand don't they? :p

Mother-cum-Maid #2: Lou
Also cleans, mops, cooks, "nags".. but whatever shes says apparently isn't final (refer to 'Director' description and candidate)

Wanderer/Runner/Spy: Harilyn
Roams the quiet surroundings of the cabin and runs the errands as instructor by the 'Director'. What people don't realise is that she's also our 'secret spy' ;)

Owl: Cally
The late night birdie who sleeps after everyone else in the cabin's snoring (from blocked noses). Wonder what she's up to.. hmmmm

Our last and final roomie's (Yixin) role has yet to be confirmed as she only arrives today.

And hey, what's a cabin without some entertainment, right? Well, we've got live performances from our nasal orchestra every day! Ahh.. it's "music" to everyone's ears :)

Anyway, that's it for updates from the lonely 7-man cabin.. apparently the only other contributors to this blog for now :)

It's GAME DAY everyone! Let's stay focus and fight till the very last second! :)

-shouts- "TEAM SINGAPORE!" (accompanied by the nasal orchestra's sneezing and nose blowing in the background)

Friendly with Caperio Taby FC

the day turned into night at 2+pm. feels weird!

we had a friendly with Caperio Taby FC at 7pm (1am Singapore time). lost 8-1 (5-1, 3-0, 0-0).

had to travel 2 hours from where we're staying. the arena was pretty decent, boards were set up by them, we even had a changing room to ourselves. and... a black T-shirt with Caperio Taby FC vs Singapore printed for all the players. really took us by surprise!

------game------
we were playing defence most of the time in period 1, our opponents killed us with their accuracy and swift passes. some of us made silly mistakes, myself inclusive (had one own goal! =.='). we tried our chances at goal whenever we could, but it didn't last long. jill scored that for us!

period 2 was much better! we were more organized and we had more control of the play this time, because we knew their strength and we read them better.

our goal for this period was to maintain at least a 0-0 scoreline and i'm proud to say that we met it! that was our best period for the game! we had a chance to play power-play when a foul was committed by them. i think we did great!

------personal thoughts------
the best part at the end of it was that we played well as the period goes. no doubt we picked up slow, at least we know what it'd be like at the actual game. pre-game conditions would be different.

i'm very thankful for the support i had whenever i needed during the game.
this game, i don't know what went through me, i definitely wasn't myself and i wasn't playing my game. boooo =( but one good thing was, as each period goes, my confidence level got better. i'm glad i tried my chances at goal during power play and extremely relieved that i did not screw up *phew. i felt really really bad especially towards widya during the first period. ughhh. 1 goal was conceded because i blocked her view, another was the own goal in attempt to stop a blind side pass. *screams!

it's my first time leading the team and i made a boo-boo at the start. haha. players' entrance, i stood at the wrong side of the bench. ahhhhhhh. i was so embarassed, and stella was laughing by my side. if i could dig a hole and put my head in, i would! *shy.

i'm thankful to have jill, louise and even karen to help me with that. i've got so much more to learn!

anyway, as we stood in front of the spectators to sing our national anthem, i saw a small group of people waving our national flag! isn't it awesome to have support from our fellow singaporeans overseas? =D

anyway, we have so much more to give! by then when WFC starts, i'm very certain team singapore would be all ready and play like never before!

-----------------

we reached our camp site around 12 midnight, i was sooooo hungry. =S

hehe, karen is like the chef for my room..
serena: "i'm hungryy.."
karen: "what you want to eat?"
smelly, ruyi, wywy: "i want to drink something.."
karen: "what you want to drink, i make for u.."

bathed in freezing cold water (colder than the water i can get in singapore without the heater turned on!). screams! first time ever. ran out of warm water by the time ruyi, smelly and wywy have showered. ahhhhhhh!

-#88 serena-
p.s: i really hope i won't be the only one blogging cuz i've given the password to the team! so those of u reading out there, get them to blog too! ;)
